2. Grammar and Rules

  • ここ / そこ / あそこ / どこ: Used to indicate places (here, there, over there, where).

  • こちら / そちら / あちら / どちら: Polite form of ここ, そこ, あそこ, and どこ, respectively, often used in formal situations.

    • Example: そちらはじむしょですか。 (Sochira wa jimusho desu ka?) – Is that the office?
  • Noun は Place です: This structure is used to state where something or someone is.

    • Example: トイレはあそこです。 (Toire wa asoko desu.) – The toilet is over there.
  • Noun はどこですか (Noun wa doko desu ka?): Used to ask where something is.

    • Example: かいぎしつはどこですか。 (Kaigishitsu wa doko desu ka?) – Where is the meeting room?
  • Noun の Noun (Noun no Noun): Used to indicate possession or relationship.

    • Example: これはにほんのじどうはんばいきです。 (Kore wa Nihon no jidouhanbaiki desu.) – This is a Japanese vending machine.
  • ~をください (~wo kudasai): Used to ask for something politely.

    • Example: これをください。 (Kore wo kudasai.) – Please give me this.
